What's On | Shilling Fair Returns to Andover High Street | Andover & VillagesOn 12 August 2018, Andover High Street will come to life at the second Andover Shilling Fair – an unmissable free day out celebrating the town’s Georgian heritage.

Andover’s Georgian streets will be host to a programme bursting with colourful street performers, Regency dancers, The Dandy Chargers, horse and carriage rides, street performers, market stalls, interactive free heritage tours, face painting, traditional fairground rides, donkey rides, local musicians and free fun hands-on family crafts.

Over 50 market stalls will be offering everything from handcrafted marshmallows to unique handmade shilling pins and authentic Regency clothing.

The Time Ring will host performances from the Duke of Wellington's Dancers (as seen on the BBC), Andover Loft Singers, Sarum Morris, The Southern Lights Traditional Dancers, Romsey Ukelele Group, Court Rogue and the Newport Session Band.

Free tickets are also available for the Andover Heritage Trail, brought to life through an immersive tour. The tour brings the town’s history alive and visitors will meet a number of interesting characters as they are guided on their journey by Mr Heath of Heath’s bank. Tours take place at 11am, 1pm and 3pm and must be booked in advance through The Lights box office on 01264 368368.

Cllr Barbara Long from Andover Town Council said “The event has grown quickly, doubling in size this year and we are expecting over 4000 visitors to Andover. It’s fantastic to have so many organisations working together on this exciting new event, showcasing everything Andover has to offer.”

The event is being managed by the Andover Shilling Fair voluntary committee and FUSE Projects Event Management, with financial support from Test Valley Borough Council and Andover Town Council.
