Driving Miss Daisy is a reliable companion driving service and is now available in Andover and the surrounding villages.
Owner of the business, Camille Phillips has lived in Charlton for 13 years and always worked outside of the local area, passionate about helping others and missing working locally with local people and wanting to do something rewarding and that would help the community, Camille set up the Driving Miss Daisy franchise business.
Camille told Andover & Villages, "I also spend time looking after my mother, taking her to the GP, hospital appointments and out for lunch for a treat. This spurred my interest in the Driving Miss Daisy concept a few months ago and if this was available where my mother lives, I would have used the service regularly. My mother is conscious of having to ask for my help and would prefer to stay independent, so driving miss daisy is a perfect way to do this.
"I own the Driving Miss Daisy Franchise in Andover and would love to assist you on any trip you may have planned. I offer much more than a taxi service – I’ll collect you from your door, giving any personal assistance necessary, drive you to your destination and provide whatever help is needed before delivering you safely home again. All our drivers are police checked, first aid trained and hold a private hire licence, giving you and your family peace of mind. As well as individual trips, I am keen to get people socialising and so offer trips for Christmas lunches, Christmas shopping, afternoon tea and trips to the garden Centre or would you like to take up a hobby you used to do? Anything is possible."
Driving Miss Daisy originated in Canada in 2002 and then began in New Zealand in 2007 after a lady heard about the franchise and was always driving her aunt to appointments and shopping as she was unable to drive herself. This sparked her interest in helping others who did not drive and would help them keep their independence. Now this is a well-known name and much loved service in Canada and New Zealand and now it has arrived in the UK.
The fundamental reason Driving Miss Daisy has been created is because although they provide a level of service often equal to a loving daughter, son or family member, the client knows that they are maintaining their independence, self-worth, dignity and empowerment, while getting out and about in the community as they always used to.
