  • Written by Lucy

Police appealing for witnesses after £3,500 worth of items were stolen during a burglary in Broughton.

Between 11.15am and 12pm on Friday, December 30, the window of a house on Romsey Road was forced open and items including an Apple Macbook Air laptop, diamond jewellery, and cash, were taken from inside the property.

It has been reported that a white high top van was parked outside the house at the time of the incident.

We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the burglary, or who saw a vehicle matching this description in the area at this time.

PC Adam Merrick said: “A number of high value items were stolen during this incident, and we are keen to identify those responsible.

“This incident happened during daylight hours, so someone may have seen something – whether it was someone acting suspiciously in the area, or the vehicle that was parked outside.

“I would urge anyone with information to contact police immediately.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Merrick on 101, quoting 44160489490, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Hampshire Constabulary encourages members of the public to consider the following crime prevention advice:

• Residents are urged to ensure that their property is secure, all front and side gates are locked and that expensive items are not left on display.

• It is recommended to invest in a safe that can be bolted to the floor where expensive jewellery can be secured.

• Residents should also consider fitting security lighting and alarms where appropriate.

• Identifiable property can be marked with a postcode and house number and registered on www.immobilise.com
