Strong winds have arrived today (Thursday 23rd February 2017) in association with storm Doris, wind and rain has already arrived across the area, but the Met Office predict gusts of 60-70 mph likely throughout the day.
Whilst the strongest winds look to be only short-lived, damage to structures, interruptions to power supplies and widespread disruption to travel networks are likely, with a danger of injury from flying debris.
Heavy rain is also likely throughout today as well as some snow over high ground as the system clears eastwards. These may prove additional hazards.
Travel services could be affected including some restrictions on bridges and disruption to ferries. Some damage to trees and buildings is also possible.
The warning is in place until approximately 8.30pm this evening (23rd February 2017).
