More than 30 dance, theatre, music and community groups have received good news with grants worth more than £180,000 announced by Hampshire County Council’s Executive Member for Culture, Recreation and Countryside.
At his Decision Day meeting (21 March), Councillor Andrew Gibson approved Community Buildings Capital Fund grants to ten community groups totalling £129,680 and he also approved Culture and Community Activity Grants to 21 organisations amounting to £52,880.
Councillor Gibson said: “The grants for these organisations will enable them to continue offering projects and much loved interactive arts events and activities at the heart of the communities, which are enjoyed by so many people. At the same time, the capital funding will enable the buildings to be fit for purpose, modern and efficient, long into the future.
“Importantly, the funding will also help organisations reach and engage with harder to access groups, supporting the County Council’s wider work in protecting the economic, cultural and social wellbeing of all Hampshire residents.”
Age UK Mid Hampshire was awarded £3,000 to establish a weekly Wellbeing Lunch Club in Andover, providing hot meals, organised activities including weekly fitness sessions and access to advice.
