The 'killer clown' trend which swept the UK in Autumn 2016 could be about to make an unwanted comeback with the return of Stephen King's horror film IT due out at cinemas on the 8th September 2017.
Last Autumn was characterised by a spate of incidents involving 'killer clowns' actively terrorising members of the public. These took on an increasingly threatening edge with some reports of the 'clowns' carrying knives and chasing cars or approaching frightened schoolchildren.
Hampshire police force received a number of 'killer clown' reports at the time, including a report that a man from Dorset was allegedly attacked and dragged along the street by someone dressed as a clown.
It eventually became illegal to dress as a clown and harass people in the UK.
If you have any concerns or need to report an incident you can call the police on 101.
