Following the incident at Parsons Green in London on Friday, Hampshire Police are warning residents not to be surprised if they see armed officers at busy locations.
Although the UK terror threat level has now been downgraded from critical to severe, Hampshire Police will continue to provide reassurance to communities, so you will see a high level of police presence, including armed officers, at busy locations across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight today.
A statement issued by Hampshire Police states that additional officers including armed officers would be at busy locations across our county. This includes shopping centres, train stations and crowded places tonight and tomorrow.
Police say "We urge the public to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the police by calling the confidential anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789321 or in an emergency by dialling 999."
The head of serious and organised crime in Southampton Tweeted: 'Duty Supt - plans being implemented to keep public safe. You many see more armed officers today - say hello, they are there to help'.
