Local News | Police Appeal after Suspicious Fire | Andover & VillagesPolice are appealing for information after a fire is believed to have been started deliberately at a property in Durrington.

Fire crews were called out to the incident in Philip Road at 4.55am on Saturday 16 December 2017.

The fire started in a shed and spread to the adjoining property, a former church building which has been converted into flats.

Nobody was in the affected flat at the time, but the property has suffered smoke and water damage.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and police are investigating.

PC Richard Chula, from the Wiltshire East CPT, said: "This was an incredibly dangerous act which luckily did not result in serious injuries or expensive loss to the owners, thanks to the quick actions of the fire brigade, who attended promptly and dealt with the fire.

"I would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area around the time the fire started, or anyone who has heard anything regarding the incident since."

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Chula on 101. Alternatively information can be left anonymously by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
