The Andover Town Centre Partnership (ATCP) is delighted to announce bigger and better plans for the Town Centre Town Tidy Day for 2017.
As well as plans to repeat a range of events including a litter pick and river cleanse, the Partnership will again be organising improvements such as street furniture painting and improvements to key problem areas.
Plans for 2017 also look to involve more volunteers and to focus on the national Great British Spring Clean Campaign, which means that we have moved the date of our Tidy Day to Friday 3rd March to coincide with the national campaign.
The Tidy Day will again be sponsored by local firm Simplyhealth and supported by Test Valley Borough Council & Amey, all three of whom are also providing a support team on the day. Staff from a number of the town centre businesses will also participate and we are also encouraging local residents to also be involved by giving up an hour of their time to join the litter pick at the Guildhall from 9am on 3rd March.
Town Centre Manager, Chris Gregory, said: “Part of the work of the Town Centre Partnership is to improve the appearance and attractiveness of the town and what better way than to take direct action to improve some very visible issues.
We were overjoyed with the turnout of businesses, residents and organisations last year, which meant that we collected over 40 refuse sacks from difficult to reach areas or those within private ownership.”
Mark Hamson, spokesperson for Simplyhealth commented: “We are pleased to sponsor Town Tidy Day for a second year. The event is a great way to bring together businesses that are local to Andover and members of the community for the benefit of the town.”
