TVBC Drive Local Business Forward with Grant

Local Business News | TVBC Drive Local Business Forward with Grant | Andover & VillagesA caring and compassionate Andover entrepreneur has launched a new driving business that assists people with errands and travel to medical appointments.

Camille Phillips operates her business as a franchisee of Driving Miss Daisy, a concept that was started in New Zealand five years ago, and has recently received Test Valley Borough Council’s £750 Business Incentive Grant. The new company combines a practical taxi service with companionship to help people who don’t drive to get out into the community.

Ward member for Charlton, Councillor Ian Carr, said: “I am very impressed with Camille’s dedication and hard work to set up the new company and I believe the concept of Driving Miss Daisy is excellent. It is important to help people to get out into the community, not only to make it easier for them to run errands but also to provide a sense of companionship. This is a great example of how we have learnt from success on the other side of the world and I am confident that this will continue in the UK through Camille.”

Camille added: “I am incredibly passionate about the business because it is such a fantastic way to give something back to the community. Elderly residents, or those less able to travel, receive help with appointments, shopping, social occasions and any other travelling they require. I urge anyone who is interested in finding out more to get in touch.”

The Council’s Business Incentive Grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own business in Test Valley. Anyone who successfully applies for the grant will receive a grant of £750 if their business is still going strong six months later.
