Southern Water is launching a new water saving campaign - with fantastic free gifts for customers who come up with the best #AquaHacks to cut down on water waste.
The campaign was inspired by the fact that cutting down on showering by one minute a day will cut £12 a year from water bills - for a family of four taking two showers a day that's £84 a year. In fact the savings can be far greater - the average British shower lasts eight minutes but Southern Water believes that four minutes is all you need.
And what better way to time your shower than with a playlist of four minute songs - and a waterproof Bluetooth shower speaker to play them on?
Southern Water has 30 speakers and loads of #AquaHacks stickers to give away to the customers who come up with the best water saving tips.
Ben Earl water efficiency manager at Southern Water said: 'This campaign is fun - but there's a serious message. Water is a scarce resource - the recent drought permit we've been granted to help refill Bewl Water underlines how important water saving is.'
'Innovations by Southern Water such as the wide spread introduction of metering, and relentless searching for leaks -along with our customers adopting better habits - has helped make us one of the most water efficient areas of the country.'
Southern Water customers use an average of 131 litres a day compared to 131 litres a day UK average. But Earl says more must be done: 'Southern Water is now campaigning for Target100 - each person should use 100 litres a day. It's going to be crucial to hit that with the population of the South East forecast to grow 16 per cent in the next 20 years.'
