If you are interested in a career that cares for and supports the early development of children under five, find out more at a free, information and recruitment event being held by Hampshire County Council on Saturday 23 June 2018.
Hosted in partnership with Job Centre Plus, the event will showcase the range of opportunities available and will also be a chance for people to find out about childcare apprenticeships, or how to become a self-employed childminder. In addition, there’s an opportunity for those already working in nurseries and pre-schools, as well as before and after school and school holiday clubs, to find out about continuous professional development opportunities.
Councillor Keith Mans, Executive Lead Member for Children’s Services at Hampshire County Council, said: “As more parents reap the benefits of the Government’s free 30 hours of early childcare, more opportunities are opening up for childcare careers in nurseries, pre-schools, before and after school clubs, and school holiday clubs. This event is the perfect opportunity for anyone who is considering a career in this specialist area and keen to find out more, as well as those already working in the field, to gather information, ask questions and even apply for current vacancies.”
Taking place in Ashburton Hall, at the County Council headquarters in Winchester, the event will be open from 10am until 3pm.
There will be a wide range of workshops to take part in, on topics such as CV writing and interview techniques, and a ‘live jobs board' on which early years/childcare providers can advertise their current vacancies.
In addition, visitors to the event will be able to talk to pre-school and nursery managers and staff, and County Council early years education specialists, as well as representatives from:
• Southampton Area Men In Early Years
• Job Centre Plus - for advice about Universal Credit, working credits and other benefits
• National Careers Service
• Colleges and Universities offering childcare courses
• Hampshire Futures – for information and advice about Apprenticeships
