All improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 6 to 7 Basingstoke, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to ensure road user safety by resurfacing a section of the M3 southbound carriageway near Basingstoke takes place this week. The M3 southbound will be closed from junction 6 to junction 7 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Basingstoke.

M3 junction 14 Eastleigh, Hampshire: bridge maintenance

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the bridge which carries the M3 over the link to the M27 westbound continues this week. The link from the M3 southbound carriageway to the M27 westbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 23 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M27 junction 5.

In addition, the southbound entry slip road at junction 13 will be closed during the same period. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Chilworth Roundabout, Bassett Green Road and Stoneham Way to access the M27 and M3 at junction 5.

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the street lighting at junction 10 continues this week. The slip from the M4 eastbound to the A329(M) Reading-bound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 13 July (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8/9 and return.

M4 junctions 12 Theale to 13 Chieveley, West Berkshire: bridge refurbishment

Work to improve journeys by refurbishing a series of bridges that carry the M4 over local roads continues this week. The M4 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 9 July for two nights. In addition, the M4 westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 11 July.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4.

M4 junction 13 Chieveley, West Berkshire: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by upgrading the street lighting around the junction continues this week. The westbound exit slip road, eastbound entry slip road and lanes on all other approach roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 20 July (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 14 and return.

M27 junction 1 Cadnam, Hampshire: bridge joint replacement

Works to replace the joints of the bridges which carry the M27 over the roundabout at junction 1 continues this week. The M27 westbound carriageway will be closed between the slip roads at junction 1 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Wednesday 11 July. In addition, the M27 eastbound carriageway will be closed between the slip roads at junction 1 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 12 July for seven nights (Monday to Friday). A clearly signed diversion will be in place down and across the junction.

M27 junction 4 Chilworth, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the links at the M27/M3 interchange finishes this week. The link from the M27 eastbound carriageway to the M3 northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 10 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 5 and return.

A404(M) junction 9b Maidenhead, Berkshire: bridge repairs

Work to maintain journeys by replacing the bridge joint and carrying out repairs to the concrete of the bridge which carries the A404(M) over Cannon Lane continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph will be in place on the northbound and southbound carriageways near junction 9b until Wednesday 25 July.

In addition, the A404(M) north and southbound carriageways between junction 9b and 9a will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 9 July for five nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Maidenhead.

A31 St Leonards, Dorset: road markings

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the A31 through the New Forest continues this week. The A31 eastbound will be closed from the Boundary Lane roundabout to the A338 Ashley Heath roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 9 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Ringwood Road, East Parley and the A338.

A34 Litchfield to Burghclere, Hampshire: safety barrier

Work to ensure road user safety by replacing corroded sections of the safety barrier along the verge of the A34 between Litchfield and Burghclere continues this week. The A34 northbound will be closed from Bullington Cross (the A303) to Tot Hill overnight (between 10pm and 6am), until Tuesday 31 July (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A303 to Basingstoke, then north on the A339 to re-join the A34 at Newbury.

A34 East Ilsley, West Berkshire: signs

Work to keep road users informed by maintaining signage alongside the A34 finishes this week. The northbound slip roads at East Ilsley will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Wednesday 11 July. In addition, the southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 12 July. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

A303 Andover, Hampshire: surfacing

Work to ensure road user safety by renewing the anti-skid material at the Winchester Road junction takes place this week. The westbound exit and entry slip roads at the A3057 Winchester Road junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 9 July. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

Safety at roadworks

Highways England is working with the industry and road users to reduce the risks of working on the roads. For the safety of road workers and all road users, when you are approaching roadworks:

Keep within the speed limit – it is there for your safety.

Get into the correct lane in good time – don’t keep switching.

Concentrate on the road ahead, not the roadworks.

Be alert for works’ traffic leaving or entering roadworks.

Keep a safe distance – there could be queues in front.

Observe all signs – they are there to help you.

And be alert for road workers, the roads are their workplace.
