A bottle of gin on sale in Aldi supemarkets has been ranked the best in the world.
The International Wine and Spirits competition took place recently and awarded the retailer a gold medal for its Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin which is on sale for £9.97.
The spirit beat other rival brands, including silver medallist Foxhole London Dry Gin which is four times more expensive than Aldi's.
Other products from Aldi which impressed judges included its Tamova Vodka for £9.97 and the Glen Marnoch Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky for £17.49.
This wasn't the end of Aldi's success story on the night, as the retailer went on to scoop ‘Supermarket Own Brand Spirits Range of the Year’ beating Lidl and Marks and Spencer.
